Georgia, known as the "Peach State," was established as one of the thirteen original colonies. The state was named after King George II of Great Britain. Georgia seceded from the Union in 1861 and was one of the seven original Confederate states. Geographically, Georgia contains a part of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the north and the Piedmont through the central portion of the state. Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River. Homes in Georgia have a unique array of styles, and the majority have four bedrooms.
